Maple Apple Bread Pudding, Midnight Snack Anyone?

Oven temp: 375 Time: depends

First of all, let me say that I have a lot of Thanksgiving or holiday recipes on here including a crockpot bread pudding as well. If you are looking for something else to fill out your menu, give a look see on here.

Today I am doing a simple maple apple bread pudding we have liked through the years. It bakes in an hour give or take and is quick to throw together. You probably already have all the ingredients right in your pantry and fridge. Top it with some whip cream and you have a delicious dessert, or midnight snack! The only problem with this is who gets the most of the crunchy top!!

Here is what I do:

Heat 3 cups of milk just until boiling, remove from heat

Dice/cube 6-7 slices of a nice dense bread, on the stale or dry side works best, I used a white today

Peel and dice two small apples or amount of choice

Spray a casserole dish and add the bread and apples, sprinkle with cinnamon (to taste) and dash of salt

Beat 2 large eggs

Add 1 cup of maple syrup, be sure to add before the hot milk

Add the hot milk

Pour mixture over bread and apples

Carefully push the bread back down into the milk mixture as much as possible

Sprinkle with a little more cinnamon

Bake at 375 degrees for 40-45 minutes or until set, knife inserted in center comes out clean

Time will depend on size of your casserole dish, your oven temp, etc.

Note this can also go into a 350 oven if you are baking something else at that temp, but will take longer, about an hour and 10-15 minutes longer

We have members of our family who like this warm, others who like it cold, all agree whip cream is required, of course it is your family, your kitchen and your choice, but am sure it will be a hit any way.

Happy Thanksgiving and be safe!!
