Another Cranberry Sauce Recipe, Support Your Locals!!

Everyone has their own cranberry sauce recipe, handed down through the family or not. It is one of the easiest of the holiday items to make, so even new cooks can do it....

My favorite recipe I use from year to year has maple syrup in it, as we buy local for our honeys and our maple syrups to support small businesses whenever we possibly can.

Check out sometime the great healthy things in your local syrup and honey versus white sugars, at least if you need a sweetener it might as well be all natural and most often using less works great!!

Here is what I do:

Pick over and rinse one bag of fresh cranberries, 12 ozs. place in pan

Add 3/4 cup of maple syrup (1 cup can be used but makes a really sweet sauce)

Add 3/4 cup or a 6 oz. can of 100 percent pineapple juice

Hefty dash of cinnamon (optional but one of those ingredients people ask what is it)

Bring to a boil, when you start to hear cranberries popping, lower heat to a simmer and simmer for 15 minutes

Mixture will be watery looking but will thicken up as it refrigerates

My photo here is just before placing in jars, or you can also use a container, your kitchen your choice!!
