Maple Syrup, BBQ Sauce, Shrimp, Italian Sausage, Simple Fare
This is one of my favorite recipes, so simple a child could do it as they say, quick, easy, delicious, and if you get the items on sale, like I always do very easy on your pocketbook.
I have used both, precooked frozen shrimp, and or my own cooked from scratch shrimp for this, either way the shrimp is precooked to make this a speedy recipe.
Also, my Italian sausage, I use sweet, but hot can also be used, we are wimps these days on heat/spicy in our old age, I also roast off and slice in rounds, for a nice presentation.
Because both items are precooked, they can be done a day or so before, no longer on the shrimp do I hold over tho, sausage on the other hand can be kept for a week or more.
Here is what I do:
Mix equal parts of maple syrup and your favorite bbq sauce
Lightly spray your pan
Heat on medium together in your pan for about 3-4 minutes, or till just starts to thicken, will depend on amounts you use how long this will take
Then toss in your shrimp and sausage rounds and let caramelize for a few minutes until heated through, on a higher heat then you used for just the sauce, watching carefully
Note: these are even good cold or room temperature on a cracker etc.
This time I served warm with my butternut squash, apple and onion home fries I have mentioned before
Note: I buy my sausages fresh, not precooked, you could prob try with those, for this recipe
I poke a few holes in my sausages then roast the sausages whole in a 400 degree oven for 40-45 minutes turning halfway through, once again this will depend on size of your sausages
Your kitchen, your choice!!
Maple syrup is like bacon, nothing is bad when it is used!! Enjoy
