Olives Italian Sausage Soup, Hot or Not!!
Olives Italian Sausage Soup, Hot or Not!!
This post is not a picture of the soup for a reason....my mother-in-law, Olive Miller, was an awesome cook....she made this soup for all her family, kids, grandkids, friends, neighbors, and was one of her most loved recipes by most all of them....since her passing every few years a request pops up from someone wanting the recipe who has never made it before...and the search begins....fortunately I was the lucky one who was blessed with her recipe, written out for me as I sat in her country kitchen one day while she was making it....another time I went to visit and she was making some and my eyes were burning from the smell...she loved hot and spicy anything and everything...
My picture today on my post is of her actual recipe cards with ingredients and instructions, which was rare for her, most often her recipes were on scraps of paper you had to decipher...even tho I do not see red pepper flakes in the ingredients, I am pretty sure that day she was tossing a few of those in also...
So moral of this post, spice it up, spice it down, can use all just sweet sausages, if you do not drink alcohol would suggest another can of beef broth in place of the wine, as you need the amount of liquids to help cook the pasta without using up all the broth up...
Recipe cards, jots on pieces of paper, turned down corners in cookbooks, notes on recipes, etc. carry on traditions, we don't realize it at the time, but this is one tiny example of why they are important for future generations and should be treasured....
