Simple or Not So Simple Poached Pears

If you want to make your kitchen smell heavenly, poached pears are a way to go....

There are many recipes out there for them, poaching in red wine, white wine, adding dried fruits, different juices, vanillas, cinnamon, nutmeg and on and on, keeping them as simple or as elegant as you want...this is my fav way to do them, simple, least amount of ingredients for flavor benefit and I am good to go...

I used, 3 large peeled and thick sliced pears, a large handful of tossed dried cranberries, a splash of honey, 1 6 oz can of pineapple juice, and water to just cover the pears....simmer till desired tenderness and cool...

Have also used apple juice, and a splash of vanilla, the cinnamon stick and no dried cranberries, works great too...

We use as a topping for ice cream, or a good quality pound cake slices (yes, store bought, you guessed it)!
