1 Pkg. Ground Turkey Or Beef, 1 Pkg. Mushrooms, 2 Dishes, Lots Of Meals!! Pre Prep Ideas?

Oven 350 Time 18-20 minutes

Today I was working with a package of ground turkey and a package of my favorite baby bella mushrooms. First let me say, I buy the whole, wipe good with a damp paper towel and slice my own. I do not trust the cleaning on the precut or my own cleaning of the precut, lots of extra work there. Little extra work but better to be safe than sorry. JMO. I was wanting to stretch them both, as we try right now to shop less, something simple, and something that reheats or freezes well. We prefer ground turkey in my house but any ground meat would work in these dishes. First, I fixed my mushrooms, started sauteeing them about 4-5 minutes, need to get a little water out, then added my ground turkey and scrambled them together until turkey was just starting to turn brown. (this mixture will be baked twice so do not overcook) This step can even be done the day before.

The first dish is one everyone makes at home, if not, I have a recipe on here for, a basic mac and cheese, (boxed works great too) but today I added in half of the ground turkey and mushroom mixture to mine and a little more cheese on the top, dish 1 done! Set aside.

Next, the second dish is the one I am giving my recipe for today, a cabbage, rice, turkey mixture dish/casserole. Rice is optional.

I thinly sliced my green cabbage into about 3-4 cups, adding it to my oven proof pan with about 2/3 cup of water

I simmered this until most of the water was evaporated and the cabbage was starting to soften a bit, with some garlic powder, onion powder and my Herbes de Provence.(spices, use your favs and your amounts)

Next, I added the ground turkey mushroom mix, 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese, 2/3 cup of sour cream and 1 heaping cup of precooked Jasmine rice. (brown rice is great here too) mixed all well and added a little more cheese on top.

Added both to my preheated 350-degree oven until bubbly, about 18 minutes (375 can also be used for less time) Time will depend on your oven and size dishes.

Please be aware my amounts are for my family, your kitchen and your family might require less or more and these are very tweakable recipes, ingredient and amount wise. Don't like cabbage, use broccoli. Don't like mushrooms, use peppers or onions or both, it is your kitchen, your budget, your family and of course your choice.

Stay safe everyone!!
